Advertised, but not on the supplied label
This ingredient appears in SodaTide marketing material but not on the Supplement Facts panel supplied with the product, which lists chicory root inulin, potato resistant starch and a probiotic blend instead. Formulas do get revised, so ask the seller which version ships today and read the panel on the bottle you receive. See the full comparison.
About Green Tea Extract in SodaTide
What Green Tea Extract Is
Green tea extract is a concentrated preparation from the leaves of Camellia sinensis. Its compounds of interest are catechins, principally EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate).
Green tea itself has been drunk for centuries. The extract concentrates the catechins into a form that can be measured and standardised.
Why It Is in the Advertised SodaTide Formula
It sits on the metabolic side of the formula. Catechins have been studied in relation to energy expenditure and fat oxidation, which is the reasoning behind their inclusion in products positioned around metabolic wellness.
What the Research Covers
Green tea catechins have been examined in meta-analyses looking at weight, weight maintenance, resting metabolic rate and energy expenditure. The consistent finding across that literature is that effects, where present, are small.
Much of the research also involves caffeine alongside catechins, which makes it difficult to separate the contribution of each. That is a genuine limitation and it is rarely mentioned in marketing.
The safety point that matters most
Concentrated green tea extract is a different proposition from drinking green tea. There have been reports of liver injury associated with green tea extract supplements, particularly at higher doses and when taken on an empty stomach.
Taking it with food is generally advised. Stop and seek medical advice if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, unusual fatigue or abdominal pain. This is a real, documented caution rather than boilerplate.
Other Practical Notes
- Green tea extract may contain caffeine unless specifically decaffeinated. Check the label if you are sensitive.
- It may interact with blood thinners and with some other medications — check with a pharmacist.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or nursing without medical advice.
How It Would Complement the Formula
Green tea works through metabolic pathways while glucomannan works through physical satiety, and chromium sits alongside on the nutrient side.
